SEARS SEED CLEANER DONATED

By Roger Austin. From the July - August 2005 newsletter.

Doug Mathie and member Ken Pharoah donated a Sears seed cleaner to the Museum's collection. The unit is wood painted red, stands less than three feet tall, and has several screens to accommodate a variety of seeds. The machine was donated to the Museum during its show in June, 2005.

The main pulley is connected to a modern electric motor by v-belt. There was discussion among some members that the unit was originally driven by an electric motor. Others suggested a hand crank or other means was used.

Anyone familiar with this model and wishing to help research, clean and restore it should contact the chairman of the collection management committee
