These are two of the four engines donated by Elaine Terry in memory of her late husband, Pete.

At the fall 07 meeting Charlie Alton loaded them on his pick up and returned at the Annual Meeting with both restorartions done !

The Associated engine is on the left and the International Harvester Co engine is on the right. They have been restored by Charles Alton and now reside in the Museum's barn in Madrid.

The last picture is of the IHC before restoration. Not the best pic but it gives you an idea of what Charlie was working with.

Here's what they are:

Gas Engine, Associated Mgrs. Co., Chore Boy, 1 3/4 hp, Ca. 1913. Original cost $43.50. See the catalog excerpt below.

The Assocciated required a lot of work. Charlie had to make a new rocker arm, a trip lever for the igniter, crank guard, muffler, gas tank, carburetor, and cart. He also bought an igniter and then painted and assembled it to it's present impressive state.

Gas Engine, International Harvester Co., Type LB, 1 1/2 - 3 hp, Serial No. LBA 124156, 1947.

In addition to the usual mechanical work Charlie cleaned and painted this engine and fabricated a new muffler, gas tank and trucks for it.

And it is here that we claim that Associated Engines stand in a high-quality class by themselves – head and shoulders above the best of all others, and we take this opportunity to invite the most rigid and exacting comparison between our product and any other line of engines now on the market.

To commence at the beginning, we wish to state most positively that the materials used in the construction of our engines are the best that money can buy for the purpose intended.

The castings used are from a high quality of specially prepared gray iron, very closely grained and of ample strength to withstand the wear that must naturally follow. We use drop forged steel crank shafts, phosphor bronze bearings, case hardened steel working parts and machine cut gears, all of which give us the very best material with which to build a high grade, dependable and durable gasoline engine.
